Maxxis Assegai Tire 27.5 x 2.6 Tubeless Folding 3C MaxxTerra EXO Wide Trail – High-Performance Downhill & Trail Riding Tire

Elevate your mountain biking experience with the Maxxis Assegai 27.5 x 2.6 Tubeless Tire, engineered for aggressive downhill racing and demanding trail conditions. Designed by World Cup champion Greg Minnaar, the Assegai combines cutting-edge materials, innovative technology, and a versatile tread pattern to deliver exceptional traction, durability, and confidence on every ride.

Premium Materials & Advanced Engineering

Built with a robust 120 TPI casing, the Maxxis Assegai features a lightweight yet highly protective EXO sidewall reinforcement, offering superior cut and abrasion resistance. The tubeless-ready clincher design allows for seamless setup and lower tire pressures, enhancing traction and ride comfort. The 3C MaxxTerra triple compound combines three distinct rubber formulations for optimal grip, tread durability, and rolling efficiency, making it ideal for technical downhill and aggressive trail riding.

Performance & Components

The MaxxTerra compound ensures predictable traction over slippery roots, rocks, and varied terrain, even at lower pressures. The Wide Trail (WT) construction optimizes the tire’s profile for modern, wider rims (approximately 35mm inner width), providing a more stable footprint for increased control and comfort. The folding bead enhances durability while allowing easier installation and transportation.

Distinctive Style & Use Case

Designed specifically for downhill and mountain biking enthusiasts, the Assegai excels in mixed conditions-mud, loose dirt, and technical climbs. Its innovative knob height, positioned between the Minion DHR II and Shorty, delivers a balance of rolling speed and aggressive grip. The tread pattern features heavily ramped center knobs for reduced rolling resistance, while side knobs maintain predictable cornering and straight-line stability.
